About

Mickleham Dental a WorkSafe Registered Dental Provider

At Mickleham Dental, we are proud to be a WorkSafe registered provider, offering dental care for patients who have experienced work-related injuries or conditions.

If you’ve sustained an injury at work that has impacted your dental health, you may be eligible to have your treatment costs covered under WorkCover. However, there are a few important steps and requirements to keep in mind throughout the process.

What You Need to Know

01

You Must Have an Accepted WorkCover Claim

Before any dental treatment can be approved or covered, your WorkCover claim must be accepted. This involves lodging a claim form and going through the assessment and approval process. Please note, only you — not your employer or doctor — can lodge this claim

02

Pre-Approval is Required for Non-Emergency Treatment

Once your claim is approved, you’ll need to attend an initial dental assessment. During this appointment, we’ll create a detailed treatment plan including costs and item numbers based on the WorkSafe fee schedule. This plan must be submitted to your WorkCover insurer for review and approval before proceeding with non-urgent treatment.

03

Emergency Dental Care

If your dental needs are urgent and directly related to your workplace injury, treatment can be performed without prior approval. We'll still assist in documenting and submitting all required information after your visit.

Treatment Approval Process

After your treatment plan is submitted, the insurer will assess whether they will cover the proposed services. They may:

  • Approve the full cost
  • Approve part of the treatment
  • Decline to cover the treatment

In some cases, the insurer may consult a WorkSafe clinical panel dentist for a second opinion before making a decision.

You and our dental team will receive a response outlining what is covered. If the insurer doesn’t agree to cover the full cost, we’ll happily discuss your options to help you avoid unexpected out-of-pocket expenses where possible.

We're Here to Help - If you've experienced a work-related dental injury, contact our team today to book your initial assessment and let us help get your smile back on track.

Mickleham Dental has experience supporting WorkSafe patients and will assist you through each step, from assessment and treatment planning to insurer communication.

Additional Considerations

  • Ensure your dentist is registered with WorkSafe – Mickleham Dental is.

  • Missed appointment or late cancellation fees are not covered by WorkCover.

  • Telephone consults or administration fees are not billable to WorkCover.

  • If there’s a gap between the treatment cost and the insurer’s approved fee, we’ll let you know before moving forward.
