Same-Day Dental Crowns in Tullamarine — One Visit, One Crown

About

CEREC Same-Day Crown and Bridges at Mickleham Dental

If you’ve damaged, cracked or weakened a tooth, you may need a dental crown to restore its strength, function and appearance. Traditionally, receiving a crown meant multiple appointments, messy impressions and wearing a temporary crown while waiting for a dental laboratory.

At Mickleham Dental, our advanced CEREC® technology allows us to design, create and place many ceramic crowns in a single appointment.

Using digital scanning and in-house CAD/CAM technology, we can create a custom restoration that is designed specifically for your smile -often without the need for a second visit.

Whether you’ve broken a tooth, require a crown after root canal treatment or want to replace an old restoration, our experienced team will determine whether a same-day crown is the right option for you.

What Are CEREC Crowns and Bridges?

At Mickleham Dental, we use advanced CEREC technology (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) to design and create custom-made dental restorations in a single visit. Using 3D imaging, CAD technology, and in-house milling, we can produce precise, natural-looking restorations tailored to your smile.

CEREC CROWNS: CEREC crowns are custom-made ceramic restorations designed to strengthen and restore teeth that have been damaged, weakened, heavily filled, or affected by decay. Using advanced digital scanning and CAD/CAM technology, we can create highly precise restorations that are designed to look natural and blend seamlessly with your smile.

CEREC Bridges: CEREC bridges are used to replace one or more missing teeth by supporting an artificial tooth between neighbouring teeth or dental implants. They are designed to restore the appearance, balance, and function of your smile while helping you chew and speak more comfortably.

Both crowns and bridges are crafted from strong, high-quality ceramic materials chosen for their durability, aesthetics, and ability to closely resemble natural teeth.

When Might You Need a Dental Crown or Bridge?

A dental crown or bridge may be recommended when a tooth has become too weak to support a filling alone.

Common reasons include:

– Large fillings that weaken the remaining tooth
– Cracked or fractured teeth
-Teeth affected by extensive decay
-Teeth following root canal treatment
-Worn or broken teeth
– Replacement of an older crown
– Restoring a dental implant

Your dentist will assess your individual situation and recommend the most appropriate treatment.

From digital scanning to in-house milling, every step is designed for precision, comfort, and natural-looking results.

The Process of a Same-Day Dental Crown

Every restoration is individually designed for the patient. There are multiple steps in the process of creating a beautiful same -day crown using cerec technology.

Tooth Preparation

We begin by preparing the tooth before capturing a detailed digital scan using our intraoral scanner.

Unlike traditional moulds, digital scanning provides a highly detailed three-dimensional image of your teeth while offering a more comfortable experience for many patients.

Digital Scanning

Using specialised software, your dentist designs a restoration that fits your tooth and bite.

Every crown is customised to suit the surrounding teeth while aiming to restore natural function and appearance.

In-House Milling

Once the design has been finalised, the restoration is milled from a solid ceramic block using our in-house CEREC milling unit.

Because this process is completed within the practice, there is no need to send impressions to an external laboratory.

Final Finish

Your restoration is carefully finished, polished and prepared before being bonded to your tooth.

Your dentist will check the fit, your bite, the contact between neighbouring teeth and the overall appearance

Small adjustments are made where required before your appointment is complete.

Placement & Final Adjustments

Your completed restoration is then carefully fitted and bonded into place. Final adjustments are made to ensure your bite feels comfortable and your restoration functions naturally.

Frequently Asked Questions

A CEREC crown is a custom ceramic dental restoration that can often be digitally designed, created and fitted at Mickleham Dental in a single appointment, without needing to send the restoration to an external dental laboratory.

Yes. For suitable cases, our in-house CEREC technology allows us to scan, design, mill, finish and fit your ceramic crown during the same visit. Some cases may require additional appointments depending on the tooth and treatment required.

Appointment times vary depending on the tooth and complexity of treatment. Your dentist will let you know what to expect when planning your CEREC crown appointment.

CEREC restorations are made using dental ceramic materials selected for their strength, function and appearance. The most appropriate material will depend on the location of the tooth, your bite and your individual dental needs.

There is no fixed lifespan for a dental crown. How long it lasts can depend on your oral hygiene, bite, diet, teeth grinding or clenching habits and regular dental care. Your dentist can provide advice on looking after your restoration.

CEREC crowns are individually designed to complement the shape, size and appearance of your surrounding teeth. The restoration can also be characterised and glazed before fitting to create a natural-looking finish.

For many suitable same-day CEREC cases, a temporary crown is not required because your permanent ceramic restoration is created and fitted during the same appointment.

Mickleham Dental provides CEREC same-day crowns at our dental clinic at 199 Melrose Drive, Tullamarine VIC 3043, near Melbourne Airport. Our in-house digital scanning, design, milling and ceramic finishing technology allows suitable crowns to be created within the practice.
