WHAT WE DO

Fissure Sealants or also Known as Tooth Sealants

What are Fissure Sealants?

Dental Fissure Sealants are a thin protective layer applied to the Molar (back) teeth, which have Grooves (also known as Fissures), on the chewing surfaces, to provide a protective barrier against Bacteria that can cause cavities and Tooth Decay.

How do I know if myself or my child needs Fissure Sealants?

Your Dentist at Mickleham Dental will recommend Fissure Sealants if there are large Grooves or Pits present in the teeth. These Sealants are very durable and can take the force of daily chewing for years.

How are Fissure Sealants applied?

Your Dentist at Mickleham Dental will firstly clean and food or plaque from the Grooves and Pits on the tooth, the tooth is then conditioned, washed and dried. The Sealant will then be dispensed onto the tooth and cured with a blue light, so the material. This process is very quick, and non-invasive and rarely causes any form of discomfort for the patient.
