About

Victorian General Dental Scheme (VGDS) at Mickleham Dental

At Mickleham Dental, we proudly participate in the Victorian General Dental Scheme (VGDS), a government initiative that helps ensure eligible individuals have access to vital dental care without long wait times.

How the VGDS Works

When public dental clinics are unable to provide timely care, eligible patients may be issued a VGDS voucher (valued up to $939) to use at approved private practices like Mickleham Dental. This voucher allows patients to receive dental care at the same cost as they would through a public clinic.

Each voucher is valid for three months and requires a co-payment of $31.50 per visit, capped at $126 for a full course of treatment.
While many preventive and restorative treatments are covered, some services may fall outside the program and would need to be paid for privately. We’ll always provide clear information upfront if this applies.

Who Can Access the VGDS?

The VGDS helps improve access to care for:

  • Adults (18+) who hold a Pensioner Concession Card, Health Care Card, or are listed as dependents
  • All Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • Refugees and Asylum Seekers

Referrals and vouchers are managed by community dental clinics. Once you receive a voucher, you’re welcome to bring it to Mickleham Dental for treatment.
